Oakland School for the Arts, a charter school in downtown Oakland, announced on its website that the school will shut down on Wednesday, Nov. 2 for the general strike called by the Occupy Oakland movement. “This is done for the safety and welfare of our students and the closure is in no way an endorsement of any positions or meant to indicate support for any group,” a statement posted on the website said. There will be no classes and all activities are canceled, including the HS Exit Exam in Mathematics, which has been rescheduled for Dec. 10. The school will re-open on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 8:10 a.m.
