Local galleries offer interesting art beyond First Friday–have a look

1-My Documents1

July’s First Friday was yet another success. Both Jack London Square’s Loakal and 26th Street’s galleries provided a plethora of artistic achievements – ranging from soothing acrylics to heartfelt photography. Street entertainment was equally well-executed: this month’s stand-up comedy was certainly no disappointment.

As a recent attendee of “the murmur,” I was truly inspired by the artwork that everywhere shouted “OAKLAND.”

Granillo’s graffiti inspired paintings and Vilett’s scenic depictions of Lake Merrit shed unique lights on a unique city. If you missed this month’s, make sure to catch August’s First Friday.
