Oakland is quickly becoming a culinary capital, receiving national attention for innovative and authentic eats. Oakland Local’s Season of Food series wants to highlight the delicious and diverse recipes that make the city’s food scene thrive, along with the creative minds behind them.

Beginning July 15,  we will publish an editorial feature and photos of local food establishments and/or products recipes.  If you are a restaurant, bar, food truck, caterer, farmer’s market seller, food retailer, winery, brewer, or artisan maker/seller, we’d love to hear from you.

Participating in Oakland Local’s Season of Food is completely FREE and in return for submitting your recipes and letting us feature your creations, we will gift a free month of advertising to randomly selected Oakland-based food or drink related business. Oakland Local advertising includes a Food section badge ad (150 x 180 pixels) and promotion via our social outlets, which will allow your business to reach 70,000 viewers.  All Season of Food participants that submit a photo will be promoted via our Facebook and Twitter.

** Oakland Local’s Season of Food marketing promotion is for Oakland based companies and organizations that have not previously advertised in Oakland Local. If you are a restaurant, bar, food truck, caterer, farmer’s market seller, food retail store, wine shop, beer brewer selling retail, winery, brewer, or artisan maker/seller, we’d like to hear from you.

Not eligible: Businesses located in Oakland but owned elsewhere, national chains with locations in Oakland, businesses with over 25 full-time employees (we’re talking small biz here), businesses that are already Oakland Local advertisers or have been OL advertisers (please contact us separately if this program.

Yahoo Senior Director, Mernit was consulting program manager for The Knight News Challenge, 2008-09; was a 2012 Stanford Carlos McClatchy Fellow; and is a board adviser to The Center for Health Reporting at USC, Annenberg School of Journalism.
