Oakland’s Donut Savant wins on ‘Donut Showdown’ witha doughnut version of Poutine!

Donut Savant’s Laurel Davis won the top prize on last week’s Food Network Canada “Donut Showdown.” The finalists had to make doughnuts that fit a “High School Cafeteria” theme. So, inspired by Canada’s famous gravy-topped fries, the Oakland doughnut maker made doughnut “fries” sauced with maple “gravy” and cream cheese “curds. ”  Better than it sounds, right?
