Exciting news! We have two free tickets to give away to see Blackalicious at Slim’s on Sunday, December 29th! Email wintickets@oaklandlocal.com by 3pm on December 27th to be entered into the running.

This concert marks the digital reissue of Blackalicious’ Melodica, originally released on cassette in 1993. Joining the veteran group will be two Oakland-based support acts who share Blackalicious’ penchant for clever, quirky, infectious positivity: Jahi & The Life and Antique Naked Soul.

  • Torman Jahi of Jahi & the Life has been performing for a long time, sharing the stage with luminaries like Chaka Khan, Jay Z, Mos Def, and Public Enemy. Born in Ohio but a resident of Oakland for many years, he uses hip-hop to teach STEM skills to youth when not creating and performing his own music.
  • Antique Naked Soul is a live vocal ensemble that stirs together the soaring vocals of Antique Wicks and the beat-boxing talents of MC Soulati, with three additional background vocalists adding fullness to the mix. The results are stunning (check out their Bandcamp for proof).

This night is going to sparkle with creative Bay Area talent. You do not want to miss it. Email us for the chance to win a ticket, and share this announcement with your music-loving friends.

Doors open at 8pm; concert starts at 9pm. Slim’s is located at 333 11th St. in San Francisco.
