Mayor Quan and Parks & Recreation Director Audree Jones-Taylor worked to open up free swimming for seniors today at Oakland city-owned pools and for everyone at the East Oakland Sports Center. Here, too, is a list of Oakland libraries with air conditioning that are open to public use for anyone trying to take a break from the heat and do a little reading.

Please note the pools are still abiding by their standing schedules for programming: no dedicated swims or classes have been canceled, they are simply allowing folks in for free during the usual times. Residents should consult their local pools with any schedule questions.
