If you’d like to help the 200 or more kids who escaped the violence of Central America and are trying to adjust to a new life in Oakland, these organizations and schools are hard at work to help.

Two high schools, Oakland International High School and Fremont High School in Oakland, have taken in the students and provided them with special English classes, guidance counseling, services and arranged legal help.

Organizations providing pro-bono legal help include East Bay Sanctuary CovenantCentro Legal de la Raza and Legal Services for Children.

The organization that is truly holding these kids’ lives together is Soccer Without Borders.
