On Friday, December 5, hundreds marched in a loop from 27th and Telegraph through downtown, West Oakland, and back to downtown, protesting the lack of indictment of police officers in the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner.

Jevon Cochran, a 24-year-old protester, led chants through a megaphone while marching. “We out here because this has to stop. As far as I’m concerned, this is genocide. They’re trying to exterminate my people. We had to shut things down in the South. We have to do the same thing today. This stops with us today,” Cochran said.
