Caring staff of the Apothecary Pharmacy visited by Sylester Flowers, R. Ph., http://www.apothecaryetc.com/
In today’s economy, who can afford a trip to the doctor to check on some common possible ailments before they become serious? This Saturday, May 21, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., all members of the community can, because it doesn’t get any more affordable than: free.
The Apothecary Pharmacy in Oakland, with support from the Good Neighbor Pharmacy and the Alameda County Medical Center Eastmont Wellness Center, invites local residents to the free “Steps to Wellness” Community Health Fair, to be held at Eastmont Town Center, 7200 Bancroft Avenue in Oakland.
The complimentary services include pediatric dental screenings, as well as diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure screenings for adults. These and asthma education will be provided by the Student National Pharmaceutical Association, UCSF Chapter, and the Eastmont Wellness Center.
To punch up the fair-like atmosphere, there will also be carnival games and entertainment, live music and raffle prizes in addition to the screenings and other health education resources.
The prizes include an iPod Nano and an iPod Shuffle, which -- as the staff can no doubt confirm -- do not cause asthma, diabetes, high cholesterol or blood pressure, or cavities, so winners can also be free of irony.
I love the prizes' presentation, that was really funny. I went to the "Steps to Wellness" fair, but I didn't win, unfortunately. I wanted to check how I'm doing after getting out of one of the drug rehab centers Arizona has, just to make sure I'm doing better, now. It was all very entertaining and I must say, they did a perfect job. I'm looking forward to meeting them again, next year!
