On Monday evening, the Montgomery, Powell and Civic Center BART stations were all closed at one point, keeping hundreds of commuters within the city while 100 or so protesters spoke out against the transit agency's police department for their behavior in the recent slaying of Charles Hill and for shutting off cell phones on Aug. 11.

As reported by the LA Times, cell, email, text and Internet service were fully functional in BART trains and downtown stations as the protest went on. Oakland Local brought you live streaming of the protest as it happened; we also provided Storify coverage of the protest - and a slideshow - which are embedded below.

Footage shows protesters chanting "It's our BART," in a mostly peaceful demonstration.
