Asiya Wadud welcomes everyone to Forage Oakland's Dec 20tyh Holiday meet-up

Now that food activist, forager ad artist Asiya Wadud is back in North Oakland, the web site and forager's group she started, Forage Oakland, is thriving once again.  Back from a semester in Rome as an art fellow,  Wadud's returned to her concept of  building neighborhood community and sustainability through a local fruit exchange.  Some forty-odd people gathered at Scott Whitten's comfortable Crtaftsmen in North Oakland, CA this past Sunday afternon to exchange jars of home-made jam, chutney, preserves and syrups, along with foraged persimmons, mushrooms and citrus fruit. Among the attendees were famlies with jam from backyard trees, young couples with jars of preserves, and urban homesteaders bearing baskets of Meyer lemons, ripe lemon, and bright small oranges(Maybe clementines).  Oakland Local was there taking photos (and trading jam; Susan brough 6 jars of a recent experiment), so, without ado, here's a photo gallery from the afternoon:
