Fashionista Fun: Dec. 8 fashion/art show promotes expressing own style in Oakland

Haven't got a thing to wear this holiday season? Street Style and Dream Seams Fashion Academy has just the thing.

This Wednesday, Dec. 8, a teen-created fashion art showcase will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Main Library's TeenZone, 125 14th St. in Oakland.

The Street/Seams Teen Fashion Art Show is a library exhibit, but the opening reception and design studio in particular is not to be missed. This is a great event for expressing one's own style, celebrating fashion and dressing to impress. In addition to meeting the artists and enjoying refreshments, guests also may make their own fashion art accessories. It’s a great way to get inspired — and prepare for gift-giving or receiving compliments, as guests see fit.

Sponsors include the Rock Paper Scissors Collective, the San Francisco Foundation, ACE Arts, the city of Oakland Parks and Recreation and La Farine Bakery. Guests are asked to refrain from wearing scented products. This may just be an allergy thing, but the possibility of scented art is not to be ruled out.

For more information or to make accommodations for people with disabilities to see the show (including signing for the hearing impaired), please contact Amy at (510) 238-7233.
