Want to know the silliest and sexiest way to wrap up your Art Murmur evening?

Hit up the Stork Club for First Friday Follies – Oakland’s own community-supported burlesque extravaganza. For a donation at the door, you can see the best burlesque and variety acts that the East Bay has to offer.

This Fridays’ show is a Rock ‘N Roll theme beginning at 9 p.m. at 2330 Telegraph Ave.

After two and a half years, what started as the Art Murmur after-party has become a fantastic monthly variety show playing to an at capacity crowd. Emcee Margaret France and producer/performer Cupcake have created a show with the perfect blend of horny and corny.

Ever wanted to see the love affair the goes on between the bread slices of a ham and cheese sandwich? Cupcake bets you have. So at last month’s Follies, she and Little Eyefull took the stage as your favorite sandwich fillings. Their interpretation of this classic love story climaxed with mayonnaise and mustard applied liberally with paintbrushes to the tops and bottoms of the scantily clad women. Those in the audience will never look at condiments the same way again and the term "extra mayo" has a whole new meaning.

June’s Friday Follies was a Queen tribute complete with Freddy Mercury-style mustaches for the crowd. The line up included performances by Rubenesque Burlesque, Monifa, Ophelia Coeur de Noir, Kitty Von Quinn, Miss Bella Fire, Francine Dead and Chi Chi del Fuego. With Queen as the theme, MC Margaret was in full Freddy Mercury drag and each act performed to a Queen song.  Rubenesque Burlesque absolutely owned “Fat Bottom Girls” in the way sexy ladies can when they know a song is written just for them.

First Friday Follies has a different line up every month, and it’s rare to see the same performers twice in a row. As the producer, Cupcake books local acts that are willing to push boundaries. She said she appreciates the talent in the East Bay because the performers are just a little out there – professional, appropriate, committed to being entertaining, but also daring. As a performer she will sacrifice being wacky for being sexy, but with burlesque she is able to combine the two.  She said she is proud that Follies is a revue that mixes the classic style of seductive burlesque with super campy frivolity.

Fridays’ show will rock with performances by Sparkly Devil, Vera DeVille, Dottie Lux, Peaches veLour, Sheba Queen of the Night and Ruby Vixen. Doors open at 9 p.m.; show is for 21+ only. No cover, but donations keep the show going.

Question.  Do you know if they allow cameras in for this.  I think I'd like to shoot it.

Thomas, you'd want to check with them ahead of time-look for a contact at the Facebook page.
