The Lakeshore Neighborhood Plant Exchange is all about free botanical fun.

For the last seven years, neighbors and folks traveling from as far away as Marin County have enjoyed this greenest of swaps and this year, the group expects more than 500 people.

The plant exchange takes place from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 26 at 3811 Lakeshore Ave. in Oakland. Parking is reputed to be as easy as falling off a tree log.

This event is ideal for anyone wishing to unload excess living greenery (or other garden-related items), from cuttings up to full size, wants to add to an existing garden, or who simply wants to meet one’s neighbors with a similar botanical bent. Donations of plants before the event, during or after the event also are welcome.

Coming off the success of its fall event, the neighborhood group adds that the three most common comments were, “I got to take home so much more than I expected,” “What a large selection and so well organized” and “What fun, everyone was so friendly!”
