Students rally against cuts to higher education, 9/24, by Epioles, Flickr
Teachers, students and community members across the state are organizing for a statewide Day of Action for Education on March 4.
The event is expected to draw thousands of citizens who support increased funding for education. It grew out of the Sept. 24, 2009, UC-Berkeley strike against cutbacks and layoffs, according to the Oakland Education Association. Bay Area residents are to converge at 5 pm at a San Francisco Civic Center Mass Rally.
The action is endorsed by the Oakland Education Association, California Teachers Association, California Education Coalition, Alameda Labor Council, Oakland Unified School District and many other statewide and local education-related organizations.
