The new year is almost here and there are tons of ways you can say goodbye to the 1st decade of the century and get ready to usher in the next. There's a long list of events from the wild ruckus to quiet reflections. Here are some of our favorites.

Nothing Holding Me Back Mock Funeral
Mary Patrick Kavanaugh aka "Cemetery Mary" has learned to take a tongue in cheek approach to the negative things in life. She's holding a New Year's Eve mock funeral and inviting the community to come and bury all of their dashed hopes, old habits and grudges from the past year to make way for a productive 2010.

"Make Love" with La Toya London and Ise Lyfe

Audrye Sessions
Oakland's Audrye Sessions has proven itself to be a tenacious indie-rock band. Since coming together in 2002 in the coffee shops of Livermore, the quartet has played stages from Oakland's defunct all-ages spot iMusicast and San Francisco's Bottom of the Hill to the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View for Live 105's BFD — with an equally diverse range of artists. The band headlines a local lineup featuring electro-dance outfit Hottub, breakout pop-rock band Manatee, and soulful rock quintet the Soft White Sixties.

Get Down at Ghost Town

McCoy Tyner w/Ravi Coltrane, Esperanza Spalding
Tyner's blues-based piano style and sophisticated chords have transcended conventional styles to become one of the most identifiable sounds in improvised music. Saxophonist Ravi Coltrane, son of famed jazzed musician John and Alice Coltrane, is one of the most well known players on the scene today. While bass player Esperanza Spalding has become arguably the most electrifying young jazz musician in the country. Tickets include reserved seating and New Year's dinner.

New Year's Eve at Ashkenaz is traditionally an all-night affair of Balkan music and dance hosted by Edessa, in honor of the late Ashkenaz founder David Nadel and the music he first featured at his world dance club. Ledisi's New Year's Celebration
Oakland's Grammy nominated chanteuse takes over Yoshi's San Francisco for one night. After the success of 2007's Lost & Found, Ledisi was catapulted into the national spotlight and has spent the last 2 years touring and working on her follow up album, which she describes as much more free and vocally adventurous than her last effort. If you've seen a Ledisi live you know she's already pretty adventurous, veering from New Orleans juke joint to Baptist church choir. This performance should really be something special.
