MooD-ology Art Reception by Curtis Jermany

MooD-ology Art Reception by Curtis Jermany

This Thursday, Aug. 19, at Oaksterdam Tattoo at 815 Washington in Oakland, photographer Curtis Jermany will debut The MooD-ology Art Reception, featuring original photos related to the Johannes Mehserle verdict. Mehserle is the former BART officer who was convicted of fatally shooting Oscar Grant on Jan. 1, 2009.

Jermany - who combines visual art with community activism - said that Mood-ology is "the practice of photographically capturing your moods." In honor of his terminology, the photo show will convey the moods of  people who were in the downtown Oakland area July 8 for the much-anticipated verdict.

Jermany captured many moods in the crowd - peace officers, protesters, bystanders and folks who were there. Jermany said that he tried to remain neutral because he understands the logic of both arguements.

The  Thursday evening reception will include a discussion with New Years Movement 4 Justice and the Coalition For Justice For Oscar Grant participants.
