Will Richmond,CA be the first city in the nation to adopt a resolution recognizing 350.org's measure of 350 PPM of CO2 in the atmosphere as the sensible measurement to stave off extreme climate change?
City Council member & Richmond Vice Chairman Jeff Ritterman has been sending a letter around inviting Bay area interested parties to attend the Feb 2nd council meeting " and help Richmond make history." G.ven that Richmond is home to one of Chevron's big oil refineries, this resolution carries some additional punch,
The City Council agenda item reads:
RECEIVE a report and ADOPT a resolution in recognition of the 350 ppm CO2 as the sensible limit to prevent extreme climate change - Mayor McLaughlin (620-6503), Vice Mayor Ritterman and Councilmember Rogers (620-6581).
This event is bringing out local climate change activists in force. Local organizations including the Mobilization for Climate Justice, the Asian Pacific Environmental Network, Communities for a Better Environment, the West County Toxics Coalition, Environmental Health & Justice for Richmond are urging supporters to meet before the city council meeting and participate in a meeting and rally.
Their schedule for events is as follows:
Meet 5 PM Tuesday February 2nd, 440 Civic Center Plaza, Richmond, CA 94804
Community Press Conference, 5:45

Will the City Council pass tbis ordinance? Would this ordinance--if passed- have jurisdiction over the oil refinery?
