This is the moment to consider applying for the next round of Multicultural Fellowships at  The San Francisco Foundation.  This program is seeking young professionals of color who have a passion for social change to represent the cities diversity and be trained in areas such as grant writing and community leadership activities. The foundation’s goal is to improve the level of diversity amongst non-profit and philanthropic sectors. It strives to create a model that encourages racial/ethnic diversity and hopes to aid in the development of leaders of color in these areas.  

 

The program will provide its participants with challenging work experience and leadership opportunity. The fellowship will have an intense curriculum that includes individual coaching, mentoring, the opportunity to network, and have access local service sector leaders. Former members of the fellowship program now work in areas such as nonprofits where they serve as executive and development directors and also as government officials.

 

Applications for fellowship are being accepted now until March 22, 2010 for areas including Education, Arts and Culture, and Environment Program areas. Follow the link below for access to the San Francisco Foundation’s website and details regarding submission requirements:

 

Two special information sessions will be held one-- on Thursday March 4, 2010, from 3:00pm – 4:00pm, and one on Monday March 8, 2010 from 10:30am – 12:00 noon at 225 Bush Street, Suite 500San FranciscoCA 94104.

 

These sessions provide candidates with the opportunity to meet current Fellows, Program Officers, the Fellowship Coordinator, and other staff, while acquiring additional information about the Fellowship Program. No RSVP is required.

My DeVerteuil is in the Infant Mental Health Masters Program and was a Journalism Minor at Mills College in Oakland. She grew up in the Bay Area and loves to sing, read, write, and listen to timeless music. She was a Spring 2010 intern at Oakland Local and continues to contribute to the site.
