This Sunday, Aug. 22 - from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. - Oakland Food Connection will be hosting a Food Party at Swan's Marketplace Co-Housing, 535 10th St. in Oakland.

The food party serves multiple purposes in bringing different folks of the community together, exploring new foods, stimulating conversations about healthy food and raising funds.

This Food Party will be one of many to come, in which funds will be raised for better tools for the future projects. Oakland Food Connection's goal is to raise $15,000 to $30,000 towards a mobile food vehicle so it can go into the communities of West and East Oakland hosting food parties.

"This is a homegrown movement in that I am from Oakland," said Oakland Food Connection founder Jason Harvey, adding that he, "is honored at the privilege" to be in a part of this directed movement.
