Valerie Troutt "Prepare for a Future"
Divinity Voice is a small, but welcoming space, that features some of the Bay’s best artists, hands down. This is why it’s making my must-see list two weeks in a row.
Y’all don’t hear me though! Don’t sleep! On Friday, at 9:30 p.m, Valerie Troutt is celebrating the release of her album “Prepare For a Future” at Divinity Voice, 3609 Maple Ave. in Oakland. The cover charge is $10, but it’s free before 9 p.m.

On Saturday, East Bay Loop is throwing an Uptown Oakland Block Party. Four venues - Era Art Bar, Ozumo, Luka’s Taproom and Pican - are donating all proceeds to Oakland Unified School District. A $20 Bar Hoppers Card will access you to entertainment and one drink at each spot.
Parents, you know the schools need money. Kick back and relax ... and spend a little extra for the kids.

On Sunday, get to Jack London Square for the Eat Real Festival - putting the food back in fast. The emphasis is on sustainable food; admission is free and there will be four stages to entertain and potentially perplex you.
How can you resist a festival with such a range of strange phenomenon? Solar Oven Raffle, pig butchery contest, Chinese noodle pulling, kicking kombucha and acid cheesemaking. Huh? I’m a part time health food geek and I’m baffled. At the very least, stop by just to say, “What the!@#*!.”
