Weekend Picks: Things to do and see Sept. 3-6

Bike Stock by Bikes 4 Life

Bike Stock by Bikes 4 Life

The wheels of change and inspiration are turning. This weekend, it's all about breaking the cycle while riding the cycle.

On Friday, Sept. 3, Art Murmur (Vessel Gallery, Warehouse 416 and others) is joined by Bike Murmur, free valet bike parking with a beat. At 22nd St. and Broadway, from 7 to 10 p.m., you won't need to worry about locking up your bike.

Lukas Taproom and Era Art Bar will offer special drink prices, and you can use your valet parking stub for Club Paradiso. VIP Service will be provided for Red, Bike and Green Riders. Rock the Bike, Fossil Fool and a special guest on a pedal powered sound system will feature.

On Saturday, Sept. 4, from 2 to 6 p.m., the spoke-n absurd continues. Bikes 4 Life will sponsor Bike Stock - a celebration with bike ramps, bike mechanic competitions and a bike scavenger hunt through West Oakland. Two stages of rock, funk, punk, blues and open mic festivities are available for a mere $3. All proceeds will go to One Fam, a youth empowering nonprofit. Bike Stock will be held at 1600 Seventh St. at Peralta Street, near West Oakland BART.

From noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, luxuriate in the sound of Chaka Khan during an outdoor concert at Oakland Pride for just $5. Feel free to donate more; proceeds go to Oakland's first LGBTQI Center. Oakland Pride will be held in Uptown Oakland, at 19th and Franklin Street.
