• At 5:30 p.m., there's City Council Budget Hearing III ("The Revenge?"), closely followed by/overlapping with the Oakland Redevelopment Agency Meeting. Helmets, knee and elbow pads are recommended, but not required. The Oakland City Council - apparently due to the holiday weekend, has been canceled.
  
• From 8 to 11:30 p.m., The Bad Plus play at Yoshi's, offering a much-needed unwinding.
