Community voices: Judge orders Woodfin hotel to pay $200,000!

This week saw the most significant legal ruling yet in the 4-year, "David vs. Goliath" fight for justice at the Emeryville Woodfin Suites Hotel.

The big news: Alameda Superior Court Judge Steven Brick upheld a city order for the hotel to pay $200,000 in back wages to dozens of working immigrant mothers.

In a crushing defeat for the "hold-out" hotel,  Judge Brick rejected all of the Woodfin's legal arguments. The workers' quest for back wages owed under the city's pioneering living wage law has inspired folks across the nation and sparked some of the largest marches in Emeryville's history. And until Woodfin pays, the community boycott will continue at full force.
