Oakland Sierra Club hopes for 1,000 to support Climate Action Plan

On March 30, Oakland will present an ambitious Energy and Climate Action Plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 36 percent by 2020 and 80 percent by 2050.

The Sierra Club is part of the Oakland Climate Action Coalition. The club supports the city's targets, and wants to see them achieved in ways that "clean up air pollution, create local green-collar jobs, save residents money and improve public health."

The Climate Action Coalition has created a list of policies that "can achieve significant carbon reductions while building a vibrant local economy and improving the quality of life for all Oakland residents."

Oakland Sierra Club activists are aiming to get 1,000 Oakland residents to sign on to support a strong, just climate action plan by March 30.
