The Oakland Running Festival is this weekend. There are still some spots open in all races. If you want to run, you can still register -- but not online. Stop by the Expo at the Oakland Marriott City Center Saturday 9am-6pm to register in person and get your packet. There is no registration or packet pick-up on Sunday.

...And do you know where your street closures will be? We've got 'em right here! Plan ahead if you don't want to get stuck. And remember, street closures may affect your biking and transit routes, too.

Speaking of getting around, Sunday March 28 is when the latest round of AC Transit service changes take effect...

If you haven't already done so, check out the detailed list of bus service changes (yeah, it's a huge ugly table, but it's important) and also get revised maps and schedules for the buses you use. If you rely on online or mobile services like My511, Google Maps or Nextbus for your transit info, they'll probably be updated with the new info, but you may want to double check.

Don't forget to check out the Oakland Cultural Trust's push to save arts funding. More about this campaign.

Here's some of what Twitter has been saying about Oakland lately:

  • greenbiztweets: "Beautiful sunrise over the east bay hills as I was coming into Oakland. What a delightful gift."
  • Thomas Miner Jr.: "I'm running the Oakland 1/2 Marathon and raising $ for abused animals. All $ goes to supplies and investigation. Help me!"
  • cornbread510: "They say homicides are down 26% in Oakland. How many people just got shot this week?"
  • j_sight: "If you are running for mayor of Oakland and WEREN'T at the @oaklandseen launch party... #whatareyourchances?"
  • Miss_ChaeChae: "Been in Oakland all of 20 minutes and already gettin hit on smh.."
  • Bjorn Touraque: "The only other period band I know from Tampa is the Outlaws. I bought an 8-Track from a dude with a shopping cart under I-580 in Oakland."
  • Arsenology: "Wait ya'll.... There's a Lake in the middle of Oakland? What? Seriously?"

And there's much, much more listed on the Oakland Local calendar...
