Are you one of those people who heads for the hills and keeps snapping pictures? One of those whose shots of the regional parks are all over your flickr or Facebook page? If yes, be sure to check out the EBRPD 2010 Photo Contest running April 1, 2010 through May 31, 2010. The contest asks photographers to share their best images of their favorite Regional Parks activities and locales. Photographs may feature scenic views, wildlife, recreation or people enjoying the parks; however, they must be taken in one of the East Bay Regional Parks or Trails. Our judges will be looking for images of diverse habitats and activities.
Photographs submitted will be considered for upcoming print publications, and selected winners will be included in an exhibit to be held in summer 2010.
To ensure eligibility for the Contest, entries must be available for viewing at a large size on flickr (about 600x 1000 pixels) and must be available upon request at a 4MB file size if selected for publication.
HOW TO ENTER
Upload your photos to your flickr.com account. Do not include any digital watermarks on your image. Only submit your own photographs.
Add them to the EBRPD Photo Pool at: http://www.flickr.com/groups/ebparks/
Submit up to five photos tagged with “ebparks2010” for consideration. Identify the park or trail location in the title, description or tags of each image.
Or, to put it another way, here are the rules:
HIGHLIGHTS
1. Contest runs April 1, 2010 through May 31, 2010.
2. Photos must be taken in an EBRPD park or trail.
3. At a minimum, please include the photographer name and location name in the image description. Any additional information (species, trail, etc.) is appreciated
4. Limit: Five images per participant.
5. District employees are eligible with photos taken on their own time and with their own equipment
. 6. Prizes will include an individual Regional Parks Foundation membership for each of the three top adult winners, as well as prizes to be determined from our sponsors Sarber’s Camera, Nikon and Diablo Magazine. Youth prizes to be announced.
2010 Photography Contest Details
YOUR RIGHTS
You will retain all rights to any photograph you submit other than those rights licensed in these rules. By entering this contest, you grant the Park District permission to print your photographs in publications that may include but are not limited to the District activity guide, Diablo magazine, the District website and exhibit brochures in order to publicize the contest and exhibit. Your photograph will be displayed or printed with your photo credit.
WHAT TO ENTER
Photographs may feature scenic landscapes, wildlife, recreation or people in the parks. Your images must be taken in one of the East Bay Regional Parks or Regional Trails. Our judges will be looking for images of diverse habitats and activities.
If you choose to include identifiable people in your submission, you must be able to provide the appropriate model releases to the Park District upon request.
All photographs should accurately reflect the subject matter and the scene as it appeared. Photos that have been digitally altered beyond standard optimization will be disqualified. Acceptable methods for standard optimization include removal of dust, cropping, and reasonable adjustments to color and contrast.
Multiple exposures that have been combined to produce a single "High Dynamic Range" image are acceptable.
ELIGIBILITY AND JUDGING
Entries may originate in any format so long as they are submitted electronically.
Images will be judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact, and artistic merit.
The East Bay Regional Park District shall determine winner eligibility in its sole and absolute discretion. All decisions made by the judges are final.
Prizes are non-transferable; no substitutions allowed. All federal, state or other tax liabilities are the responsibility of the winner.
