Hey Oakland, what're you doing this weekend? In addition to all the Earth Day events, there's lots more cool stuff happening in and around Oakland.

Tonight, Oakland Local senior editor Amy Gahran will catch the W. Kamau Bell Curve comedy show at La Peña (3105 Shattuck, Berkeley). Shows at 8 and 10 pm, $22 -- but it's 2 for 1 if you bring a friend of a different race!

  • Saturday all day: Community Resilience Workshop. In this pay-what-you-can daylong session, engaged residents will discuss what community resilience might mean in the Bay Area; assessing community strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities; identifying priorities, and more. 9:30am-5pm, California Pacific Medical Center, Enright Room, 2333 Buchanan St, San Francisco.   • Saturday afternoon: Learn biodiesel or diesel car maintenance. Bring your own diesel or biodiesel car. Taught by taught by Biofuel Oasis-recommended mechanic Billy Jacobs, who has over 12 years' experience and a degree in auto technology. He is also a member of the Berkeley Biodiesel Coop and biodiesel homebrewer. Cost: $140 for the lecture, workshop, and parts; $35 at the door for the lecture only.
