The Oakland Police Department will honor officers this morning who have given their lives on duty.

The 14th Annual Police Officer Memorial will take place in the lobby of the Oakland Police Administration Building at 455 7th St. at 10:30 a.m.

Immediate family members of the officers will be escorted in a procession from the Oakland Police Officers Association to the Police Department where officer Jeff Thomason will conduct a ceremony in front of the memorial wall.

“We are reminded at this time each year how dangerous it is to be a police officer and the sacrifices our colleagues have made. We must continue to honor these brave men and women each year," said police Deputy Chief Eric Breshears in a prepared statement.
