Wednesday Night Mixer

Dining Room/Memories

Dining Room/Memories

This Wednesday evening, visitors can explore the Peralta House Museum of History and Community during a free after-hours mixer. Through audio, film, food samples, photography, sculpture, and more, the Fruitvale museum resounds with the stories of today's Oakland residents, as well as the early history of many cultures that created the East Bay.

You will also have the opportunity to meet current Peralta House docents and take a behind-the-scenes peek at how they lead unconventional tours of an unconventional museum. Staff will be available to answer questions about becoming a Peralta House docent.

Food and wine will be provided!

About Becoming a Docent:
Docent training consists of three sessions, after which docents lead one guided tour of the Peralta House Museum per month. Docents compose their own version of California history, including topics that interest them, favorite audio selections, and family stories. This is your chance to meet the brilliant, committed, friendly volunteers you've always wanted to know!

Friends of Peralta Hacienda Historical Park is a Fruitvale-based non-profit that runs the Peralta House Museum and provides school field trips, after-school and summer programs, volunteer opportunities, community parties and cultural events. The mission of Friends is to promote understanding, historical healing and community amid change and diversity, and to give voice to the many cultures that have created – and are still transforming – California. The park was once the headquarters of the 45,000-acre Rancho San Antonio, and the first European building in the East Bay. Today, the Peralta House Museum is full of five-senses exhibits about Fruitvale history. Pay a visit, and leave your story!
