Looking for a summer program for your child that they'll never forget? It's not too late to register your child for Oakland Freedom School (OFS).
This five-week summer literacy program uses African American literature and culture to engage children ages 5 to 13 unlike other summer camps and programs. Youth and their families develop strong, positive self and community identities, AND have fun.
OFS 2010 will be held July 6th to August 6th, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. For your convenience, OFS will be held in two locations this year. In West Oakland, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at 1203 Willow Street (at 12th St) and East Oakland at Ile Omode School at 8924 Holly Street (at 90th St).
OFS is only $200-$500 (sliding-scale) for a summer packed with learning, nutritious food and field trips.
OFS has a long tradition of achievement, bridging a critical gap of literacy of African American children by providing small classrooms, highly trained staff and a stimulting cultural curriculum.
There are still a few slots left. Contact David or call (510) 267-9770 for more information.
Oakland Freedom School is organized by Leadership Excellence, an over 20 year organization based in Oakland, CA.
