The Oakland Public Library has announced that unlike the rest of the city, which will be closed from Friday, July 2 to Monday, July 5, the library will be open during its regular hours from noon to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, July 2.

All branch libraries and Main Library will be open to the public on Friday and closed for the July 4 weekend, from Saturday, July 3, to Monday, July 5.

The closure includes a day off due to the city of Oakland’s budget shortfall and two days for the July 4 holiday. As the holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday is taken as holiday time for city and library staff.

For more information, call (510) 238-3271 or visit the Oakland Public Library’s website at www.oaklandlibrary.org.
