BE A SUMMER INTERN AT BAY LOCALIZE!

Bay Localize depends on interns, fellows, and volunteers to forward the important work of localizing our economy. We're looking for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about community resilience and solutions to climate change and oil dependency. Internships require 10 hours/week for a minimum of 3 months. A $300 monthly reimbursement stipend is offered. Women and people of color are strongly encouraged to apply.

Bay Area 2020 Organizing Intern (NOW OPEN!)

What will our communities look like in 2020 if we really do what's needed to reduce reliance on fossil fuels while making our communities better places to live? The Bay Area 2020 program trains and supports community leaders in making this vision a reality through the Community Resilience Toolkit and workshops series, as well as promoting policies, hosting public events, and building networks to encourage the transition to a more resilient Bay Area. This internship is focused on reaching out to community resilience organizations and leaders to build a network of leaders spanning the 9-county Bay Area that:

    * Supports on-the-ground projects and policies that boost local self-reliance
    * Disseminates tools, models, best practices, and lessons learned throughout our region
    * Builds a powerful movement to advance a resilience agenda from our neighborhoods to City Hall to regional agencies

We are recruiting a committed intern to assist with research, organizing, outreach, and communications. Experience in public communications, sustainable economic development, community outreach, and writing is a plus. Use Your Roof! (NOW OPEN!)

Every roof is a resource. Whether in a dense, urban area, or a suburban zone, rooftops are valuable real estate that can serve vital purposes, such as catching water, supporting edible gardens and vegetated surfaces and generating solar power. Bay Localize initiated the Use Your Roof! (formerly Rooftop Resources Project) to promote living roofs, rainwater catchment and solar power because of their instrumental contribution to a balanced urban ecology and resource security. Through raising public awareness, advancing education, and garnering support from local government and financial incentives, a greater development of these rooftop systems can be achieved. Bay Localize actively supports these measures through research, advocacy, education and hands-on projects. Support is needed for activities including outreach, policy advocacy, research, and campaigning.
