Community United Against Violence (CUAV) is a San Francisco, CA-based organization working to build LGBTQQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) power to create safety in our lives and communities. CUAV seeks an experienced person to serve as Development Coordinator as a full member of our staff collective, to manage the planning and implementation of our grassroots and foundation fundraising program. All staff members work cooperatively as part of a staff collective team, and are involved in programmatic, fundraising, organizational development, and operational activities.
COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Participate in organizational programmatic work by staffing walk-in hours, attending membership meetings and other key events.
· Support the Board of Directors as needed.
· Represent the organization in local, statewide, and national alliances, partnerships, and conferences.
· Support ongoing organizational development through strategic planning and training.
· Actively participate in organizational Support & Accountability structure through regular peer assessment, workplans, agreements, and staff buddies.
· Work in partnership with staff, members, and Board to ensure that our Community Agreements are fully understood and practiced.
· Participate in organizational recruitment and outreach efforts.
· Provide some day-to-day organizational administrative support.
· Contribute to the development of overall programmatic and organizational strategy.
· Actively engage in personal and political development to better support organizational mission.
· Actively participate in organizational Grassroots Fundraising Team.
· Support government contract management as needed.
· Additional duties, as needed.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
· Annual Fundraising Plan: coordinate the development and implementation of annual fundraising plan including individual giving (direct mail, events, phone bank, canvass, member giving, and major donor campaign) and institutional giving (foundations and corporations).
· Infrastructure Management: improve and institutionalize organizational systems for donor tracking, acknowledgment, cultivation, processing, and financial reconciliation; and manage current and prospective donor information and relationships.
· Grassroots Fundraising: steward efforts to build broad individual donor program and integrate grassroots fundraising into staff, member, volunteer, and Board activities, and the Safety Team.
· Foundation Fundraising: Coordinate foundation research, files, annual calendar, proposal and report writing, grant submission, and relationships with current and prospective funders.
· Board Support: Serve as primary liaison to Board of Directors, support Board participation (with a particular emphasis on fund development), recruitment, and development.
· Communications: Support the development of organizational communications strategy including coordinating the production and distribution of print and online materials, including website, email newsletter, print newsletter, factsheets, brochures, statements, press releases and other materials, as well as managing and developing ongoing media relationships to promote organizational coverage.
· Special Events: Coordinate small and large-scale special events throughout the year, including house parties, benefits, cultural events, and grassroots fundraising activities.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Two or more years managing a successful individual giving program or equivalent experience.
· Experience in setting up and maintaining development operations and systems
· Experience with grantwriting and foundation fundraising.
· Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
· Demonstrated ability to multi-task and meet competing and strict timelines.
· High level of self-motivation, creativity, and openness to learning.
· Experience in and passion for working in non-hierarchical environments, with the ability to work accountably both independently and as part of a team.
· Experience with training and facilitation, particularly popular education.
· Demonstrated commitment to open, direct, and non-violent communication.
· Deep commitment to creating community-based responses to violence against and within LGBTQQ communities, and to ending all forms of oppression and abuse.
· Demonstrated experience working in a multi-racial, multi-gender, inter-generational organization and actively addressing oppressive inter-personal and organizational dynamics.
· Commitment to creating a sustainable, healing environment.
· Extensive knowledge of and experience in diverse LGBTQQ communities, particularly LGBTQQ communities of color, immigrant communities, low-income communities, and youth communities.
· Spanish language skills preferred.
STATUS:
· This is a full-time (FTE 1), 40 hrs per week, position.
· This position will be paid an annual salary of $40,000 and receive full benefits.
