100 Black Men of the Bay Area, Inc., ASA Educational Services and Frick Middle School in Oakland are combining their resources working together to educate and empower African American youth by sponsoring the 2nd annual MAN UP conference for black boys Saturday, July 24, 2010 from 9 - 5. Young men in grades 6-12 will spend the day with African American men developing “The Me I Can Be” This one day conference will feature workshops from financial literacy, Why it’s cool to be Smart, Anger Management, Police Etiquette, media literacy, Being a well-mannered Brotha’ and Hip-Hop for Social Change just to name a few.
The event is sold-out with over 20 dynamic male presenters leading workshops to over 250 black boys from all over the state (including a Southern CA family). They converge at Frick Middle School in East Oakland for much-needed personal growth and developmentt
