Clorox has launched the 2010 Power A Bright Future contest - a school grant program. Four grants will be awarded ranging from $20 to $50,000.

Will an Oakland school win one this year?

Last year, the program received more than 4,000 entries and is expected to receive more in 2010.

To nominate a school:

Visit www.Clorox.com to submit a photo and tell us about the program. Nominations will be accepted through Sept. 27 in the following categories:

    * Learn: Education-focused programs (i.e. establishing a school recycling program)

    * Play: Sports and exercise-focused programs (i.e. building a playground)

    * Create: Arts-focused programs (i.e. funding an after-school music program)

Each nomination should demonstrate how the program will truly make a difference to children in their respective communities.

Following the online nomination period, the final decision is based on votes. From Oct. 5 through Nov. 1, the public will have the opportunity to vote online. The program that receives the highest number of votes will be awarded the $50,000 grand-prize grant; the next top vote-getter in each category each will be awarded a $20,000 grant.

The final Power A Bright Future grant winners will be announced on or around Dec. 8.

Good luck, Oakland!
