From the Measure DD Community Coalition, a local group that promotes access to the Oakland-Alameda waterfront:

Alan Lopez's Feb. 26 article on Oakland's 12th Street Bridge raised the profile of Oakland's Measure DD and brought its largest single project into focus.

But the scope of Measure DD is much wider, with a range of projects along the estuary and around Lake Merritt, as well as creek restorations, watershed acquisitions, and youth and public recreation facilities.

Though these projects are being phased in over a number of years, many are already complete and many others are in progress.

To help tell Measure DD's story, the Measure DD Community Coalition, an advisory community group, has developed an interactive online map showing the location and status of all Measure DD projects.

For each, it includes a description, links to more information, project status, funding and a Google Maps satellite view.

The map can be accessed from the Measure DD Community Coalition Web page.

Background: In November 2002, more than 80 percent of Oakland voters passed Measure DD, a $198.25 million bond measure focused on waterfront improvements at Lake Merritt and the Estuary.

The Measure DD Community Coalition was formed to establish an ongoing dialogue between the City of Oakland and interested members of the community on how this historic bond measure will be implemented. The group meets bi-monthly and is open to anyone interested in finding out more about the Measure DD Bond implementation.
