We're a week away from a big budget discussion in Oakland, so Ol has numbers on the brain. Here are some numbers that made us pay attention:

The AC Transit BRT project is going to get $15MM in federal funding

The city of Oakland spent more than $48 MM to help renovate the Fox Theatre, $50MM if you count the recent loan request.

Game security at Oakland high school sporting events costs the city about $175,000 a year, including $65,000 to have police officers at basketball and football games, according to estimates from Sarna and the Oakland Athletic League commissioner.

300,000 Priuses', world-wide, are going to be recalled by Toyota

Had enough with the numbers? Here are some other stories not to miss:

Congrats to the Garden Council department of the Oakland Unified School District on their new web page!

Don't forget that Thursday and Friday is the Bay Localize Clean Power, Healthy Communities: A Regional Conference of the Local Clean Energy Alliance event--we are going--how about you? (It is going to be really interesting).

And Thursday night is the Oakland Student Jazz Concert.

And of course, Laila Ali is speaking--for free!

And yes, there's more--we are calendar addicts--so check out this week at the Calendar (and you know you can add events by joining the site and filling out a form, right?)

Send story tips and ideas to editor@oaklandlocal.com--and have a good Monday.

Bonus track: Friday, Feb. 5th, Oakland Art Murmur Photos from Nick Lally at the Rock Paper Sissors opening:
