Join Bay Localize for a day of planting and garden revitalization on January 20 at the EC Reems Midde School rooftop garden in East Oakland.
Spring is in the air and it is that time again to prepare the raised beds for planting, add
some new compost, and revitalize the garden. Entering its third year, the rooftop garden has been the site of hands-on education and community building for students and adults alike.
Tasks for the day include building 2-3 more raised beds (adding to
the 35 already on site), transferring compost to the rooftop, planting and weeding, and building shelves for the greenhouse.
Whether you want to learn about rooftop gardening, meet new people who are enthusiastic about growing food locally and encouraging resilient communities, or just enjoy the company of others while revitalizing a community garden, this event is for you.
WHERE: EC Reems Academy, 8425 MacArthur Blvd., Oakland
WHEN: Saturday, March 20 from 10 am to 2 pm
Please RSVP to Rachel at rachel@baylocalize.com.
