Oakland Unwrapped and California 1 are once again inviting Oaklanders to nominate their favorite home-based businesses, small-businesses, and artists for the 4th Annual Oakland Indie Awards.  There are numerous categories, but the short version is that pretty much every type of business is eligible that is for-profit, and winners are feted at a nice awards ceremony (this one will be May 14, 2010.

If you have a favorite business, artist, designer, baker, hairdresser, bike repair shop, etc. this is your chance to show them some love. Info on the program lays out the categories and gives you a simple form to fill in--you can enter as many times as you wish, and as many people.

So?

You know, this is a cool program because it is a chance to recognize and support local business people--and to educate others about all the great resources in Oakland.  When money is spent inside the community, it improves everyone's well-bring--and ackowledging locally-owned business--and celebrating their contributions--is important--and supercool.

There are so many local artists and businesses the OL team appreciates--this is a chance for us to show them some love--and a chance for you to do the same for those you want to call out.

So, once more, here's the nomination form.

The Oakland Local Editorial Team is made up of Kwan Booth, Amy Gahran, Irene Florez, Michelle Fitzhugh-Craig, Eric Arnold, Jennifer Inez Ward, CB Smith-Dahl, Meg Bertoni, Susan Mernit, Tehea Robie, Ruth Miller, Debi Mason, and others.
