A slew of community meetings, two this month, will let Oaklanders chime in about the future of Oakland's Office of Parks and Recreation.
The department wants to help neighbors get to know each other in addition to collecting ideas about activities and improvements. (Sounds like this could be a great use of the free crowdsourcing offered by CSC and UserVoice.) According to the event flyer, meetings also will addres public safety concerns.
On Feb. 18, with a focus on youth and city-wide sports, OPR will be at the Lake Merritt Garden Center, 666 Bellevue Drive, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Call M. Landry at 510-238-4722 for info.
On Feb. 24, with a focus on Dimond, Montclair, Redwood Heights, the Lions pool and local parks, OPR will be at the Dimond Rec Center, 3860 Hanly Road. Call Michelle Doppelt at 510-482-7831, or e-mail her at mdoppelt@oaklandnet.com, to learn more.
