from the office of the City Auditor:
Dear Women of Oakland,
Have
you or someone you know ever been interested in getting more involved
by being appointed to a local or state commission or board but never
knew how?Join me this coming Wednesday, October 13th at
6:30 PM (City Hall, Council Chambers) where I will hosting a training
for the California Women's State Appointment Project 2010, which is
aimed at encouraging and recruiting a rich, diverse pool of women from
all corners of the state to apply for a board, commission, or agency
appointment.
With new administrations coming in both at Oakland
City Hall and the Governor's Office in Sacramento, it is an ideal time
to learn how to get a seat at the table and be appointed to a board or
commission.
At this training session, you will:
- Be guided through the application process
- Identify suitable board and commission openings in Oakland and on the state level
- Assess your strengths through a Personal Inventory Worksheet
Appointments Training When: Wednesday, October 13th
6:30 - 8 PM
Where: Oakland City Hall, Council Chambers
These
new administrations will be recruiting women from all backgrounds and
for all level of positions - high level, paid and volunteer. Many of
these boards and commissions need women to serve as public
representatives, so don't think you need to be an expert in a specific
area to apply! There are many women out there who are serving on boards
and commissions and learning as they go!
