What a weekend! So much to do in Oakland , October 1-3

Wow, there is a lot of cool stuff going on in Oakland this weekend!

Tonight, it's First Friday! And there are Movies in the Park in Redwood Heights (Ghostbusters). And the first of two weekend Red Bike Green Bike Rides--This one is the First Friday Ride/Bike Murmur, starting 6:30 PM from  Lake Merritt, Grand Ave. and El Embarcadero (by the pillars).
Saturday is the Black Cowboy's Rodeo in Defemery Park, AND the first full day  of the Estria Invitational Graffitti Battle, and a reading by Waiting to Exhale's Terry McMillan at Marcus Books AND a workshop on vegan soul food in North Oakland with West Oaklander chef Bryant Terry. (On Saturday, member of he Oakland Local Academhy training team are also at Learning Lab, at SF State,with the Renaissance Center,  teaching multimedia skills.)

And Saturday night, of course, is the Bay Area Black Journalists' Association Annual Gala at Scott's Restaurant--where OL Contributing editor Reginald James is getting an award!

And Sunday? Sunday is Estria's Graffitti Battle, the Life is Living Festival (in Defremery Park), which is going to be amazing, There's also a Red Bike and Green ride from the Coliseum BART to Defremery Park, starting at 12 noon

It's also an open mike with Paradise Jah Love Sun, 3 Oct at 6:09pm --and lots more. What are YOU doing? Share the riches of our city, please!
