Free conference on women's sexual empowerment this weekend in Oakland (Community Voices)

The SHERO Women's Sexual Empowerment Conference will take place on Saturday, November 13th, 2010 from 9:00am - 3:30pm at the Oak Center Cultural Center (1324 Adeline Street in Oakland). There are spaces for 20 participants and not all of the slots have been filled.

Here is an update on the workshops that will be offered during this day of Personal and Community Development:

  • SHERO Pre World AIDS Day HIV Prevention Update
  • Spirituality and Sexuality in the 21st Century
  • Erotic Breath Work
  • Self Expression Through Poetry
  • Sistah Cypher : Speaking Our Truth
  • Female Condom Demos

This is a FREE event with Continental Breakfast and Lunch Provided (donations will be accepted). There is also a private vendor who will be offering Table Massages ($20 for 15 min)

Comfortable Attire Suggested. Several workshops deal with self expression so if you have writings or art pieces you'd like to share with the group, you are encouraged to bring them.

CB Smith-Dahl (aka Ms. Smitty B) is an award-winning filmmaker, photographer, and educator who has always put the community at the center of her work. In 1997, she founded Community Bridge Video. As Oakland Local's Community Media Manager, she creates new media content for the site. Her work with Oakland Local Academy teaches and engages youth and community members and organizations in useful media skills.
