My colleague Aaron Lehmer at Bay Localize just sent this to me:
"San Francisco's city manager just reported that five responding bidders to their Clean Power SF (CCA) RFP are now under review.
They hope to have an action item on te Feb. 19 CPUC meeting to vote on the highest scoring bidder. They've also filed a request with the CPUC arguing that marketing by PG&E against CCA is contrary to state law.
Commissioner Vietor also just spoke out against the Power Grab initiative, calling on the PUC to vote on a resolution at its next meeting to oppose the ballot measure.Question to the audience: would it be useful to have tweets and/or blog with real time updates on local energy (like this), food, water, and other resilience related issues in the Bay Area?"
In solidarity,
Melia's Papap.s., The Local Clean Energy Alliance is having an organizing session to kickoff the counter campaign in the East Bay to stop the above mentioned PG&E Power Grab initiative this Thursday. For more info, see http://www.localcleanenergy.org/meetings/20100114.
p.p.s., Mark my words: this is the most important ballot initiative involving energy in decades. If it passes, it will snatch from We The People the choice of using one of the most powerful tools for reducing greenhouse gases and reducing energy costs, Community Choice Energy. At least that's what San Francisco and Marin think after studying the issue for 5 years. Was up Oakland?
Very cool!!!
