Rally to stop the PG&E Power Grab - NO on 16 on March 17 (Community Voices)

Here's planning for a demonstration this coming week that several people sent to us:

NO on MONOPOLY

NO to TAKING AWAY CONSUMER CHOICE
NO on HIGH RATES

NO on 16!!!
WHAT: Rally to stop the PG&E Power Grab - NO on 16

WHEN: 1
2:30pm this Wednesday (March 17 )

WHERE: Van Ness & McAllister, outside the California Public Utilities Commission
See attached flyer and below for more info.
FOR RABBLEROUSERS: 12:30 this Wednesday (3/17 ) at Van Ness & McAllister, outside the California Public Utilities Commission. Come out and pack the street corner with us for a poster-waving action against PG&E's $35M Prop 16 (on the June 8 statewide ballot) Prop 16 is corporate money buying elections at its worst, with PG&E the sole funder trying to ram through a constitutional amendment that will permanently protect its monopoly and its continuous rate hikes, damage local progress for renewables to fight the climate crisis, and set a dangerous new low for the state's ballot initiative process. (See attached flyer for more.)
After the rally attend the CPUC 1-5pm public hearing on Prop 16.
Bring a handmade sign if you can. We'll be joining friends from other Bay Area groups opposed to 16, and need all of the sign-wavers and general shout-outers we can get!

PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY!

Details from the flyer:
Should one company, spending $35M, be able to buy a spot for itself in the state constitution?
FACTS:
• PG&E is the sole sponsor of Prop 16 on the June 8th statewide ballot
• Prop 16 ends competition for PG&E from local, publicly-owned
electricity providers
• These not-for-profit providers (such as Sacramento, Palo Alto, Anaheim)
beat PG&E rates by an average of 20%, while serving 24% of the state;
Marin Clean Energy & CleanPowerSF start service this year
• With 30% rate hikes planned over the next 3 years, PG&E faces no
competitive pricing pressure if Prop 16 passes
• Stalled at just 1% solar & failing to meet state law for renewables, PG&E
faces no competitive "clean power" pressure either
They can’t compete fair & clean,  that’s why PG&E bought Prop 16!
CASE STUDY:  Marin Clean Energy is a not-for-profit public provider offering double PG&E's renewable power,  at  rates that match PG&E's now, and beat them over time. 100% renewable power is offered for a few dollars more. Its projected climate reductions are 50x greater than all other local programs combined. CleanPowerSF is on similar track to deliver. And both providers are under heavy attack by PG&E's phony  grassroots front groups, using the names Commonsense Marin &  CommonsenseSF. Prop 16 is simply PG&E's statewide  attempt to shut down all such clean power competition for good.
If you think competition for low rates/clean power is a good thing,  you're going to LOVE working to stop this Prop 16.
