Peralta & Hannah Vacant Lot: What's the next use case?

Isn't Google Maps useful?

Isn't Google Maps useful?

Discussions are continuing around the vacant lot at Peralta between Helen and Hannah that City Slicker Farms wants to get funding to turn into a park and urban garden. Apparently, City Slicker Farms is applying for a grant to purchase the property from the Emerald Fund and turn a portion of the property into a farm.  City Slicker Farms claims that the portion of the property not used by the farm will be turned into a park to be held in a trust by Oakland.  The use of this section of the property is up for discussion and was the basis for the meeting.  Any follow up discussions need to occur by March 1st, as this is when the grant is due.

Some email from Council Member Nancy Nadel suggests that City Slicker Farms is ploughing ahead with their plans despite some concerns from Nadel. She says that that she was not aware of the meeting, and suggested to CSF the next meeting should include more neighbors. She also says that CSF is hoping to apply for a state-wide Prop 84 grant to purchase that site, but that will compete with city applications for other sites (one from every district, District 3's is for Durant Park and the Teen Center).

Back in 2006, this site was approved to be a live/work development with 76  condominiums, 24 live/ work units, 38,155 square feet of commercial space, and 151 parking , but that ain't gonna happen now.

Hopefully, there will be more meetings to evaluate use and create something nieghbors will be excited about and support.

Here's the original document about the development that did not happen.
