News, feh!

Sometimes the best thing to do is just go outside and take a nice walk. Or get together with some friends.

Oakland news is thin today, with highlights as follows:

City Attorney John Russo sues company that reportedly defrauds immigrants: "“American Legal Services is an outlaw company here in Oakland that has based its business on swindling the families of immigrants who are seeking legal residency in America."

Chevron profit falls 37 percent, refinery and retail units lose $613 million-will job loss be far behind?

A new DIY dispensary grows in East Oakland: iGrow is a15,000-square-foot superstore catering to people who want to grow marijuana--for personal consumption, of course.

Musician Norton Buffalo is remembered, and the Alameda Posey Tube reopens after a water main break earlier this morning.

The Actual Cafe is starting laptop free weekends, there's a meeting about the General Electric Facility in East Oakland and toxic pollution and cleanup, and we're still digging these beautiful murals--maybe you want to get out and go see them?

This weekend, the OL calendar shows lots to do--

Update: We received a correction to our Farmers' Market Plastic Bays story, pointing out plastic bags have been banned in Berkeley since April 2009. Thanks.
