Come out tonight for: "STATE OF THE STANDARDS" THURSDAY, MARCH 17, 2011 6-8:30pm Tilden Auditorium, 4551 Steele St. Oakland, CA 94619
Greetings OUSD "Greening" Enthusiasts! OUSD needs to know what is important to you for our schools!
The listening campaign for our OUSD Strategic Plan is coming to a close
in the next week. Please consider ways that you can voice your thoughts
on what you would like to see for our schools.
Since you are all so
committed to working with our schools towards a more sustainable route,
it is important for the district to know about your efforts at an
individual school level. These efforts should be considered at a
district level, so that we can reach out to all of our schools.
We are coordinating a sustainability plan with Stopwaste.org, sustainability focus experts and our OUSD district.
Keep in mind, this is our only chance to ask all of our public schools to
be green leaders and implement sustainability practices. Local private
schools have been more able to switch to green energy, install
water-saving devices, instate compost and recycling programs. Our local
public schools have done well with coordinated parent/teacher efforts,
but schools need systemic support. So let's speak up to include this
vision in the strategic plan.
This is where you come in. Please consider one of the following:
Visit OUSD Quality Community Schools Development website to provide input:
-Click glowing orange button on far right "quality standards"
-Then click purple "online" button to submit your input
or
Attend the last Youth & Family Conference at McClymonds High School, 2607 Myrtle St. The conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12. Light breakfast, lunch, childcare and translation will be provided.
Consider passing this on to others that you think would be interested in becoming involved.
