The city of Oakland will celebrate the earth and all that it has to offer during Oakland EarthEXPO 2011 TODAY, April 13, in Frank Ogawa Plaza.
The 17th annual event - which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. - will feature LOCAL EATS: Buy lunch at the EXPO!
Find out how delicious local and sustainable food can be via LOCAL EATS,
which brings together local food vendors serving up lunch menus of
fresh food
grown and made within 100 miles of Oakland. Be sure to stop by
exhibitors to learn how to compost, grow a garden, buy organic, join a
community garden and more.
Participants also can visit 100 dynamic local green exhibitors, green businesses, environmental and social change organizations, artists, government agencies and community groups.
2011 EXPO Exhibitors List
There will be "Close the Loop" walking tours, which suggest linkages between exhibitors and offer giveaways to attendees who visit a series of booths on the "Food Loop," the "Energy Loop" or the "Recycling Loop."
If that's not enough, the expo will provide tips, products and partners to, reduce waste, green your workplace, drive less, build or remodel green, reduce energy use, become a smarter consumer, bring your own bag, conserve water, practice bay-friendly gardening, hold a ZeroWaste event, reduce your carbon footprint, restore our creeks, eat seasonally, volunteer and more!
